How to clean, refresh and transform your living space! Transforming a room through efficient cleaning and clever organisation can be a really rewarding process, as well as making a significant difference in the overall look and feel of your room.
Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you:-
As always when looking to make big changes, start with a declutter and begin by removing any unnecessary items. Then sort belongings into categories: keep, donate, and discard, remembering to be ruthless in getting rid of things you don’t need or use.
Dust all surfaces, including shelves, furniture, and electronics. Wipe down surfaces with appropriate cleaning products and clean windows and glass surfaces. Don’t forget to also hoover or wipe floors. You may well need to do more cleaning if you go on to fully re-arrange your furniture, so keep that cleaning equipment on hand!
Start by measuring your living room and create a floor plan either on paper or using a digital tool. This will help you visualise different furniture arrangements before physically moving them.
Identify different functional zones within your living room, such as seating areas, entertainment zones, and if you have space, reading corners. Arrange furniture accordingly to define these spaces.
Get help moving any furniture – remember safety first! Often furniture is far heavier than it can first appear. Experiment with different furniture layouts based on your floor plan, and don’t be afraid to try unconventional arrangements to discover what feels most comfortable and visually appealing.
If you have a fireplace, large window, or a piece of artwork, use it as a focal point. Arrange furniture to highlight and complement these features. Also cleaning a large mirror will really add a bright dimension to a room, especially if it’s positioned to pick up the light from a window. Combine one cup of water with one cup of white vinegar and add just a dash of washing up liquid into a spray bottle. Shake gently to mix then spray the solution directly onto the mirror and let it sit for a few seconds. Then wipe away with either a microfibre cloth or even a newspaper.
Achieve a sense of balance by distributing furniture and decor evenly throughout the room. Consider symmetry for a harmonious look, but don’t be afraid to play with asymmetry for a more dynamic feel. Be careful cleaning any ornaments and use a soft-bristled brush or microfibre cloth to remove any dust or dirt build-up.
Add or rearrange accessories like cushions, throws and decor items. Consider incorporating new elements to refresh the look of the room.
Assess the lighting in your living room. Ensure a good balance of natural and artificial light. Consider rearranging lamps or adding new ones to enhance the ambiance. And of course take care when cleaning your light fittings, making sure the power is switched off before wiping with a soft, damp cloth.
Introduce indoor plants to bring a touch of nature into your living room. Plants not only add visual interest but also contribute to a healthier indoor environment.
Display personal items such as family photos or artwork to make the space feel more personalised and welcoming.
Remember, the key is to create a space that not only looks clean but also feels comfortable and suits your needs. Take your time, be creative, and enjoy the process of transforming your living space.

Cleanhome (Haywards Heath)
Just to let you know we are open for business as usual and you can continue to have your cleaner clean your house.
The government has made it clear that cleaners are still permitted to work inside peoples' homes as long as Government Guidelines on social distancing and staying safe are followed (see below). In summary:
You can be outside of your home for work purposes where your place of work remains open and where you cannot work from home, including if your job involves working in other people's homes.
The full text can be found here New National Restrictions from 5 January (in England; there are similar texts available for Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland). Specifically relating to cleaners, the guidance continues: 'This guidance applies to those working in, visiting or delivering to home environments. These include, but are not limited to, people working in the following areas:
Note this guidance is for people who are fit and well, and is dependent on the following social distancing guidelines being followed:
The good news with regard to cleaning is that the cleaners can social distance from their clients very easily, and we would advise that, if you are at home when they are there, that you remain in a separate room to your cleaner.
If you are happy to adhere to the government guidelines - and if your cleaner has not been in touch already - then please just call the office and we will ensure that your cleaning continues.
Best regards
The Cleanhome Team
